Learn Piano Online Today
It’s easy to learn to play piano online, what with courses like Rocket Piano that are designed to give students not just solid grounding on music theory but also extensive practice in practical piano playing. However, you would find it difficult – if not impossible – to learn to play piano online without mastering piano fingering first.

Here are basic fingering tips.

1. Learn to identify the notes on the keyboard. This is a very basic skill you have to master. Unless you learn to name the notes on the keyboard, you will never be able to read music sheets or music manuals.

2. Master the C major scale notes. Look down on your keyboard and find these white-key notes, specifically C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C.

3. Play around a mid-range octave. Remember, in piano music, fingers are assigned the following numbers: thumb – 1, index finger – 2, middle finger – 3, ring finger – 4, and finally, the little finger – 5.

4. Practice using your fingers. Look for an easy song to play – a nursery rhyme for example. Practice playing this song using your right hand. Naturally, you’ll have to look at the keyboard as you play. Continue doing so until you have memorized the numbering assigned to each finger.

5. Play the same song without looking at the guide. By now, you have the notes and numbers down pat. So, there’s no need to sneak looks at the guide.

6. Beginners usually have problems avoiding the gaps between keys. Solve this problem by raising a key just as you press down on the next.

Of course, when you learn to play piano online, your teacher is going to correct the mistakes you make. Be patient with the corrections. You will never get any piece right – or get better at the instrument – if you do not heed professional advice.
